Unit 6.2A Assignment

On the class wiki site, post your favorite new Web 2.0 tool that has not been covered in detail in this class that you have discovered in this course or elsewhere. List the URL, what the tool is, and why you find it useful using the wiki template page. No duplication allowed-each page must be an original new tool. This can be done after reviewing the Unit 9 material, which covers more Web 2.0 resources.

Title of Site:

Kahoot!

URL:

Description of Site:

Kahoot is an online platform where teachers and others can create quizzes, surveys, and discussions, and students can respond to those platforms created uses a unique code. Kahoot is considered collaborative, because you can also search already created quizzes, surveys, and discussions instead of needing to make your own, and can make the ones you create shareable with others. Kahoot is completely free to use, and although the teacher needs to create an account, the student does not, making it perfect to use in a pinch. I have never come across any ads when students are using Kahoot, however, I have come across ads when creating my own Kahoots.

Educational Uses of Site

Kahoot is great to use for online collaboration (discussions), as well as quick formative assessments using the quizzes and surveys tool. Since students do not need to make accounts, it is easy to use quickly, especially if students already have or are on devices. The results of each Kahoot you make or use are saved in your profile, making it easy to reference later for data purposes.

Review of Site

Kahoot is very useful for many educators. I use it to quiz vocabulary, have my students participate in quick discussions, and survey the class about different things. It is user-friendly and completely free, plus it is easy for students to access and use quickly, and is not another user name and password for them to remember.
